"Katahdin" is dyed in soft gray and forest green with plenty of undyed areas between. It is a reflection of the mountain for which it is named.
This fiber is one of those amazing blends that you can't imagine until you try it. It is comprised of 40% SW Merino, 40% regular Merino, and 20% silk. Merino takes dye differently if it is superwash than if it isn't... this leads to different levels of dye absorption. Mix the silk in which takes dye even more differently, and you've got an amazingly soft, strong fiber with a streaky, variegated dye effect. Truly lovely to work with.
All fibers from Highland Handmades are dyed with professional dyes and are heat set, then rinsed in plain water.
